Where are we located?

SCALE AI is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. While the Quebec City to Waterloo corridor represents its core operating region, the Supercluster’s impact will be pan-Canadian, strengthening the virtual and physical infrastructure connecting businesses and communities across the nation. SCALE AI’s strategy is fully geared toward global impact, by dovetailing the global value chains and serving the world with AI solutions from Canada.

Our vision

Our vision is to build the supply chain of the future by leveraging artificial intelligence technologies to drive industry performance.

Our mission

SCALE AI’s mission is to drive massive economic impact, build world leading businesses, and set the new global standard for intelligent supply chains in the next five years. A critical part of SCALE AI’s mission is to develop future talent that generate and use artificial intelligence technologies and contribute to the development of an innovative, competitive, diverse and inclusive Canadian economy.

What is a Supercluster?

Clusters are a dense area of business activity containing a critical mass of large and small companies, post-secondary and other research institutions. They energize the economy and act as engines of growth.

Superclusters build on the advantages of a cluster. Comparatively, these innovation hotbeds have stronger connections, a long-term competitive advantage, global brand recognition, and an outsized positive impact on job creation and economic growth. Superclusters make it easier for innovators and potential customers to harness the strengths of their local ecosystems, to work closely together on the research, development and demonstration activities that will lead to major commercial opportunities and boost productivity across industries.

What is the Innovation Superclusters Initiative (ISI)?

In 2017, the Government of Canada challenged Canadian businesses of all sizes to collaborate with other innovation actors; including post-secondary and research institutions, to propose bold and ambitious strategies that would transform regional economies and develop job-creating Superclusters of innovation, like Silicon Valley.

The purpose of the ISI is to accelerate the growth and development of business-led innovation Superclusters in Canada, translating the strengths of the Canadian innovation ecosystems into new commercial and global opportunities for growth and competitiveness.

The five successful business-led innovation Superclusters will receive up to $950 million. The money will be distributed over five years to the winners, which will have to match the federal funding they receive, dollar for dollar.

Canada's new Superclusters

In February 2018, SCALE AI was named as one of five successful business-led innovation Superclusters to receive federal funding.
